Broad serum neutralizing activity against HIV is rare and so far no vaccine has been able to elicit such a response. However, some HIV patients develop a broadly neutralizing serum activity against several HIV strains.
The goal of this study is to identify such patients and study their B cell response to HIV. Potentially this could tell the researchers what broad neutralization reflects on a monoclonal level and how a vaccine should be designed in order to elicit such a response.
